ATC

Finally I am back from my Adventure Training Camp. Hurray! Survived the 3 days 2 nights camp. So happy. Anyway, it's quite slack. Not that bad. Typing out what I did in the past 3 days in camp.

1st day. 22 June [Wednesday]
Report to school with my big camping bag. Fall in and took a piece of aluminum foil. Soon, we were on the bus on the way to the jetty. Traveled a long time on the road. Talking about how the ATC is going to be like and how everyone would be on the bus when we come back to Singapore on the third day. Soon, we reached and we went to buy our packed lunch and dinner to be eaten there. Took the bumpboat there. It's so nice. Like to take the bumpboat. Reached there and rested for a while before walking to the NPCC campsite. Walked a long long way before we finally reached the campsite. Got bitten by a lot of mosquitoes on the way. Luckily there is insect repellent. Sat down and have our packed lunch. There were cats in the campsite. Then they were looking at us eating our lunch. Moved away just in case it came and eat our lunch. Cadets from other schools have arrived and we were separated into groups. Luckily Weiqi and I are in the same group. We pitched tents in the tentage areas located and fall in as a group. Got our rations from the equipment place and sort out the rations between us. Eat our packed dinner as our unit and placed our bags in the tents after our dinner. Everyone gathered in the canteen for our mock campfire. Revise a few new songs for campfire tomorrow. We went to the field where the sec 3 are and started to compare to see who can shout the loudest. Next is walking around the campsite to familiarize the place. Found a packet of bread with the help of our instructor Sunny. Kept the bread for the breakfast the next day. Having our debrief session about the activities we did that day. Knew about what activities we were suppose to have the next day. There might be PT if it isn't raining. Then there is no sentry duty for sec 2 on the first night. Our duty is on the 2nd night. Having our wash up at the toilet far far away from our campsite and lights out. Finished washing up and went back to tent to sleep. Saw the time and it's 12.40am + to 1am. Have to wake up at 6am in the morning. Haiz. So sad. Anyway, we slept in the tent. But sleeping there is very hot. And lots of mosquitoes were flying around my ears. Didn't have a good sleep. The floor very hard. Listening hard to see if there is any fire drill. But unfortunately, there isn't any. And the next day starts.....

2nd day 23 June [Thursday]
Wake up and went to brush my teeth with weiqi as my buddy. Must go in buddy system. We went back to the tent and realize that it is going to rain. Cause there's lightning. Sat there packing the bags and it started to drizzle. Went to gather in the canteen for wet weather and the Sirs and Madams asked us to go back to the tent and gather again at 7am for breakfast. Hurray! Got 1 more hour of sleep. Nap a bit and went to gather in the field for light exercises. After that, it's breakfast. Ate the bread we found during our treasure hunt and start our first activity of the day. Our first activity of the day if ATF. It's Adventure Training Facilities. We divided ourselves into guys and girls. The girls went for the obstacle course first. Quite fun. Next is the maze. We have to find our way in the dark dark maze without any light. Finally, we made it out to the exist. Played the "cannon ball". There's a huge machine where you could shoot tennis ball through holes in the net. So fun. Got about 100++ points. Waited and went back to the campsite for lunch. Not enough time to cook noodles and we ate can food. Next activity is survival Skills. We sat down at a shed listening to Sir talking about how to obtain food and water in the wild and building shelters. Under the hot hot sun, it's a torture to sit and listen to the Sir talk. Wanted to sleep so much. But managed to concentrate a little about the lesson. Saw some practical and about capturing preys to eat and stuff. Went to the beach to build a shelter and cook coconut rice and orange egg. Don't think it's ridiculous. We put rice into the coconut and start a fire to cook. The orange egg is to use an orange, dig out all the flesh and beat an egg into the egg. Cook it on the stove and it would be ready to eat once it boils. The guys did the coconut rice and the girls did the orange egg. Actually, we could have eaten the orange egg but we accidentally dropped it onto the sand and it's ruined. Walked back to the camp site and start our third activity of the day. It's pioneering. We did a square lashing and diagonal lashing before starting to build our structure on catapult. Our group made a structure with only genn [don't know how to spell] lashing and it was quite unsuccessful in the first place. But we did it after we improvised a bit. Our object that is to be throw is the furthest among the 3 groups. Next is wash up time and we were allowed to go to the toilets where the sirs and madams are sleeping. Bathed and went back to tents to prepare for dinner. Cooked noodles for dinner and we were told that we no longer need to perform for the campfire later on. Washed the mess tins and kept them back in the tents. Short briefing before the campfire starts. Line up and went to sit at the campfire ring. The campfire starts and cheering and all starts. Sec 3 perform for us during the campfire. Still okay. There are few that are quite fun. Soon, campfire is over. Having debrief about the activities today. Instructor Sunny kept saying how lucky we were this ATC. 1st, our sentry duty is the last time slot from 5.20- 6 and we were suppose to fall in at 6. 2nd, campfire we need not perform because our VIP wants to catch the last bumpboat back to Singapore. Next is lights out. Slept at 11++. This time, must fall in at 6 before that still have sentry duty to do. Maybe having fire drill tonight. But don't know why this time I slept quite soundly. Weiqi was shaking to wake me up but I didn't wake up. wake up after a while. We went to brush teeth and packed things for sentry at 5.15am. Walked to the front gate to check that the gate is locked and to the jetty too. The gate isn't locked and back we went to fall in. Sir told us to go back to tent and fall in later at 6. So slack. Back to tent.....

3rd day 24 June [ Friday]
Back to tent, we were wishing for it to rain to skip PT because Sir blah blah is here. It rained soon after we were about to leave the tents to fall in. Grabbed a few items and we went to canteen to gather. The rain keep falling. Ate breakfast in the canteen. Soon, the rain started to stop. We were asked to bring our mess tins, stove and unused solid fuels to the canteen. We went to gathered everything and lost 1 mess tin and 1 stove. After collecting every mess tins and stove, we were asked to take out bags out of the tents and put it in the shed with our units. Unpitched the tents we slept in and went to place them in the field. Next is mass cleaning of mess tins and tents. Halfway, it started to rain. We went to take our ponchos and went back to the shelter. The rain keep falling and they have no choice but to wash the tents near the canteen and the mess tins on the grass near the toilet. We kept the poles for the tents back into the equipment room and sat down to wait. When they finished cleaning the tents, we were asked to wipe them dry before putting it back into the equipment room. The sun came out and we gathered in the field. After a short briefing, we were split back into units. We carried the bags and fall in in our units. My bag was so heavy because of the rations that I have to bring home. Pity the Sec 3 seniors. They have to clear the rations that we do not one. Wonder what will happen next year if ATC is sec 2 and 3 together. Will we have to clear the rations that sec 2's [current sec 1] unable to clear? Maybe ba. Walked backed the long long way to the jetty. Somemore, it began to rain again when we were walking. If not, it's the trees that are dropping the raindrops. Reached the jetty and we were waiting to take the bumpboat back to Singapore. The bumpboat was so nice. But this time, it is higher and not that fun. Still have to check bag when we reached Singapore. Stand and wait for the bus to come and bring us back to school. Was half dead by the time I reached the bus. So tired. On the bus, everyone was so tired that we felt asleep. Reached school and still have to fall in to have debrief. Went home with Chunlai. Taking 106 back. Chat with her on the bus. Saw Masturah on the bus also.

Got back home and I bathed and washed the dirty laundry. Unpacked the things in my bag and I went to sleep. Has being sleeping from 4pm+ to the next day 7.40+am-8am then wake up. Miss the time to wake up for family day. Was so tired to wake up and I forgot to set the alarm clock to wake me up. So didn't go for the family day.
